We have been busy working on a challenging project for the National Beekeeping Centre for Wales. The centre is located within the new Bodnant Welsh Food Centre in the Conwy Valley.

Our brief was to show live images from a active honey bee hive in an apiary. The apiary is 500M away from the centre and video will be shown on on a HD screen that will form part of a new exhibit. A wide river joining the Conwy estuary separates the apiary and the centre so cabling between the two location is not possible. There is also no power available at the apiary so alternative energy solutions are required.

We have built a wooden enclosure housing a highly efficient solar panel and the accompanying electronics. We chose to use wood to ensure the project remained in keeping with the conservation area in which it is located.

Two HD network cameras on a post will provide the video stream delivered using a high bandwidth secure network link. The cameras can focus to within a few inches for close ups of the action. One will provide a close up and the other an overview of the area.

All that remains is installation of two customised media computers at the visitors centre to display the footage and hopefully a live feed on their new website.

We'll post a case study here once the project is completed.

The visitors centre opens this summer and looks like it will be a great family day out. More information is available on the following pages.

The new number is 01978 806111 which replaces the old office number with immediate effect. Our warning signs have been re-designed and updated to show the new number and company logo.

If you want new warning signs to replace your old signs contact us and we'll be happy to send some out.
