Will a cheap wireless CCTV camera work?
Most ready made wireless CCTV systems rely exclusively on the 2.4ghz frequency band, this range of signals is used for many other wireless devices common to most homes for example, cordless phones, baby monitors, wi-fi routers and even wireless computer peripherals.
All these additional signals can cause interference with the wireless CCTV and reduce the effectiveness of the system, there is also the issue of security as low cost wireless systems transmit the raw video signal without encryption allowing it to be received by anyone with a receiver that is in range.
Often a wireless CCTV system is installed for convenience to avoid cabling, however a power cable still must be supplied and this often means that the system offers no real benefits at all.
